# Docker&#x20;

SimpleAccounts-UAE is a web application for managing accounts. This README provides instructions for installing and running SimpleAccounts-UAE using Docker and Docker Compose.

### Prerequisites

Before proceeding with the installation, please make sure you have the following prerequisites installed:

**Installing Git**

Setting up Git on Windows is a straightforward process. Follow these steps to get started:

1. Download Git:
   * Visit the official Git website: <https://git-scm.com/>
   * Click on the "Download for Windows" button.
   * The download will start automatically. Once it's complete, run the installer.
2. Install Git:
   * Run the downloaded Git installer.
   * You'll see a series of setup options:
     * Select the language you prefer for the installation process.
     * Click "Next" to proceed.
     * Read the license agreement and accept it.
     * Select "OpenSSL" option for HTTPS transport backend.
     * Click "Next" to proceed.
3. Complete the Installation:
   * Choose your preferred terminal emulator for using Git commands (e.g., Git Bash, Command Prompt, PowerShell). Git Bash is highly recommended.
   * Click "Next" to begin the installation process.
   * When the installation is complete, click "Finish."
4. Verify the Installation:
   * Open the terminal emulator you chose during installation (e.g., Git Bash).
   * To verify Git installation use below command. You should see the installed Git version in the terminal.

A customer invoice is a document or bill issued by you to the customer notifying the payment of goods or services.


# Create and send invoices to a customer

* Go to Income --> [Customer Invoices.](/product-guides/income/customer-invoices) &#x20;
* Click on +Add New Invoice towards the right of your screen.&#x20;
* Select the Customer Name from the drop-down list.&#x20;

* Enter the Invoice Number, Payment Terms, Invoice Date and Place of Supply.&#x20;

# Check the status of an invoice

To check the status of a customer invoice:&#x20;

* Filter by date or expense category to find a particular invoice.&#x20;
* Find the status of the invoice under status tab. &#x20;


# Edit the payment details on an invoice

To edit or update a customer invoice:&#x20;

* Go to Income --> Customer Invoices.&#x20;
* Click on the drop-down button of the draft invoice you need to update from the list. &#x20;

# Manually record payment on a customer invoice

To record the payment of an invoice when a customer pays by any means:&#x20;

* Go to Income --> Customer Invoices.&#x20;
* Find the invoice in which you need to apply payment from the list of sent invoices.&#x20;
* Click on the drop-down button. Choose Record Payment.&#x20;
* The status of the invoice will now change to Paid.&#x20;


# Change date on an invoice

To change the due date on a customer invoice:&#x20;

* Go to Income --> Customer Invoices.&#x20;
* Click on the drop-down button of the invoice you need to change the due date from the list. &#x20;
* Select Edit and make changes. Click on Update.&#x20;

Note: You cannot change the due date of an invoice that is already sent to the customer/supplier or recorded payment. In order to update the details of a sent invoice, you have to change the status of the invoice to draft and follow the steps given above.&#x20;


# Delete an invoice

To delete a customer invoice:&#x20;

* Once invoice is in draft you can edit and proceed for Delete&#x20;
* Click on the drop-down button of the invoice you need to delete from the list. &#x20;

# Sort invoices dating oldest to newest

To sort customer invoices according to oldest to newest due date:&#x20;

* Go to Income --> Customer Invoices.&#x20;

# Import a transaction from your computer

Transaction in accounting is an activity that affects your financial status of the business. It can be a sale, purchase, deposit, loan, delivery etc. Import the transaction details in spreadsheets to add them to SimpleAccounts.&#x20;

To import a transaction:&#x20;

* Go to Banking --> Bank Account.&#x20;
* Select the bank account number to which you need to add the bank transaction.&#x20;
* Click on Import Statement Tab.&#x20;
* Choose the parsing template and upload the required file.&#x20;
* Click on Parse File.&#x20;


# Reconcile a transaction

Explaining a transaction helps to match the bank transaction with SimpleAccounts account. Moreover, it aids in accurate auditing to give insightful reports. E.g., Profit and Loss Report.&#x20;

To match transactions with books:&#x20;

* Go to Banking --> Bank Account.&#x20;
* Click on bank account number for which you need to explain transaction.&#x20;
* Click on Not Explained under Status of the transaction.&#x20;
* Enter the Transaction type and Category.&#x20;
* Click on Explain&#x20;


# Unmatch transaction with books /Unexplain a transaction

To unmatch transaction:&#x20;

* Go to Banking --> Bank Account.&#x20;
* Click on the bank account number for which you need to unexplain transaction.&#x20;
* Click on Explained under Status of the transactions.&#x20;
* Select Unexplain&#x20;
* Now the transaction becomes Not Explained.&#x20;

# Match an Invoice with Bank Transaction

To match invoice with Bank Transaction:&#x20;

* Go to Banking --> Bank Account. &#x20;
* Click on the bank account number for which you need to match invoice with transaction.&#x20;
* Note the transaction amount which is not explained.&#x20;

Now to match the invoice with the bank transaction, we need to create an invoice with the same transaction amount.&#x20;

* Go to Income --> Customer Invoices. &#x20;
* Select Add New Invoice. &#x20;
* Enter the details and add the same amount of the bank transaction you need to match with.&#x20;
* Click on Create.&#x20;

You will find the status of the created Invoice as Draft.&#x20;

* &#x20;Select the drop-down button against the invoice and click Send.&#x20;

Now the status turns to overdue. To match with the bank transaction:&#x20;

* Go to Banking --> Bank Account. &#x20;
* Click on the bank account number for which you need to match invoice with transaction.&#x20;
* Navigate to the desired Transaction in the list and click on Not Explained.&#x20;
* Enter the Transaction type and Customer as in the invoice.&#x20;
* Click on Explain.&#x20;

If you direct to the status of the invoice now, you find it changed to Paid, as it has matched with the bank account.&#x20;

Master data is the core data that forms the basis of every transaction you do. Every entry made into the master reflects on your invoices, transactions and reports.


# Chart of Accounts

Chart of accounts is the list of account names or categories used while recording transactions in the account books. Find some of the common account names like cost of good sold, equity etc.


# Categorize transactions

To categorize your transactions into different accounts:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> Chart of Accounts. &#x20;
* Select Add New Account. &#x20;
* Enter the account name and choose the type of account you need to categorize that into.&#x20;
* Click on Create. Click on Create and More to add another chart of account.&#x20;

The account you created will now appear in the list of charts of accounts.&#x20;


# Add Chart of Accounts

To add a chart of account:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> Chart of Accounts. &#x20;
* Select Add New Account. &#x20;
* Enter the name and select the type of chart of account.  &#x20;
* Click on Create. Click on Create and More to add another chart of account.&#x20;

The account you created will now appear in the list of chart of accounts.&#x20;


# Edit the type of transaction in chart of accounts

To change the type of transaction in an account:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> Chart of Accounts.&#x20;
* Select the account you want to update from the list of chart of accounts. &#x20;
* Make the changes and click on Update.&#x20;

Note:  If you have already associated an account with a transaction, the type of account cannot be changed. Only the name of account can be updated.&#x20;


# Delete an account from the chart of accounts

To delete an account:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> Chart of Accounts.&#x20;
* Select the account you want to delete from the list of chart of accounts. &#x20;
* Click on Delete.&#x20;

Note:  If you have already associated an account with a transaction, that chart of account cannot be deleted.&#x20;


# Contact

A contact is created as an individual or organization so that the user can track down the details when needed. It can be either a customer or supplier or both.


# Add a customer

To add a customer as a contact:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> Contact. &#x20;
* Select Add New Contact. &#x20;
* Enter the contact’s first and second name.&#x20;
* Under contact details, choose the contact type as Customer from the drop-down menu.&#x20;
* Enter your customer’s email, mobile number and other contact details.&#x20;
* Choose the currency used and fill in other invoicing details like Tax Registration Number(TRN) etc.&#x20;
* To verify your customer’s TRN, click on the Verify TRN option below. (Enter customer’s TRN and given security code to validate from the official site of Federal Tax Authority of UAE)&#x20;
* Click on Create. Click on Create and More to add another contact.&#x20;

The customer will now appear in the list of contacts. &#x20;


# Edit the details of a customer

To edit or update the customer details:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> Contact.&#x20;
* Click on the customer you want to update from the list of contacts. Make the changes and click on update.&#x20;

# Delete a customer

To delete a customer from your contacts:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> Contact.&#x20;
* Click on the customer you want to delete from the list of contacts. Click on the ‘delete’ button and select ‘yes’.&#x20;

# Add a supplier

To add a supplier as a contact:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> Contact. &#x20;
* Select Add New Contact. &#x20;

* Choose the contact type as supplier from the drop-down menu.&#x20;
* Enter your supplier’s email, mobile number and other contact details.&#x20;

Product is the goods or services involved with your company. Every business places reliance on products to produce revenue.


# Add a product

To add a product:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> Product. &#x20;
* Select Add New Product. &#x20;
* Set the type of product as Goods or Service.&#x20;
* Enter the product name, product code, VAT percentage of the product, and select the category which the product belongs to.&#x20;
* Tick the sales information checkbox if you need to add details regarding that.&#x20;
* Enter the product selling price and choose the account.\*&#x20;
* Check the purchase information box so that you can enable inventory for that product.&#x20;
* Enter the product purchase price and choose the account.\*&#x20;
* Check the enable inventory box to track your stocks.&#x20;
* Click on Create. &#x20;
* Click on Create and More to add another Product.&#x20;

The product you added will now appear in the list of products.&#x20;


# Update the VAT details of a product

As there is a recurring change of tax code in the market, it is necessary to keep the tax details of a product updated. SimpleAccounts helps you to edit the VAT details of any product at any point of time. &#x20;

To update VAT details of a product:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> Product.&#x20;
* Click on the drop-down menu against the product you want to update from the list of products. &#x20;
* Click on Edit.&#x20;
* Change the VAT percentage.&#x20;

# Change the product category of a product

To change the product category of a product:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> Product.&#x20;
* Click on the drop-down menu against the product you want to delete from the list of products. &#x20;

VAT is associated with goods or service. In SimpleAccounts, VAT category consolidates all the goods or services that have the same value of VAT.


# Add a VAT category

To add a VAT Category:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> Vat Category. &#x20;
* Select Add New Vat. &#x20;
* Enter VAT code name and percentage. &#x20;
* Click on Create. &#x20;
* Click on Create and More to add another VAT category.


# Edit VAT category

To edit or update VAT category:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> VAT Category:&#x20;
* Click on the VAT category you want to update from the list of VAT categories. Make the changes and click on update.&#x20;


# Delete a VAT category

To delete a VAT Category:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> VAT Category.&#x20;
* Click on the VAT category you want to delete from the list of VAT categories. Click on the ‘delete’ button and select ‘yes’.&#x20;

Note:  If you have already associated a VAT category with a transaction, that VAT category cannot be deleted.&#x20;


# Currency Rate

Currency rate is the rate of exchange of a particular currency against another. In SimpleAccounts, you can add the conversion rate of any currency to UAE dirhams.


# Add a currency rate conversion to UAE dirham

To add a currency conversion rate:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> Currency Rate.&#x20;
* Click on Add New Currency Conversion.&#x20;
* Choose the Exchange Currency. (Currency which has to be exchanged to dirham)&#x20;
* Provide the existent exchange rate.&#x20;
* Click on Create. Click on Create and More to add another Currency Rate.&#x20;

# Add the currency rate from Indian rupee to UAE dirham

To add a currency conversion rate from Indian Rupee to UAE dirham:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> Currency Rate.&#x20;
* Click on Add New Currency Conversion.&#x20;
* Choose the Exchange Currency as Indian Rupee. (Currency which has to be exchanged to dirham)&#x20;
* Provide the existent exchange rate.&#x20;
* Click on Create. Click on Create and More to add another Currency Rate.&#x20;


# Update the exchange rate of a currency

To update the exchange rate:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> Currency Rate.&#x20;
* Click on Add New Currency Conversion.&#x20;
* Click on the currency you want to update the exchange rate of.&#x20;
* Change the exchange rate to the prevailing rate.&#x20;
* Click on Update.&#x20;


# Delete a currency rate

To delete a currency rate:&#x20;

* Go to Master --> Currency Rate.&#x20;
* Click on Add New Currency Conversion.&#x20;
* Click on the currency you want to delete.&#x20;
* Click on Delete.&#x20;
